Most businesses are paying too much for something that isn't even theirs.

Website builders rent you a template. Agencies charge like the site is a building. We're two people in Orange County who design and build custom sites from scratch, hand them over completely, and charge a fair price for it. That's the whole idea.

Why we started

It started with a simple observation.

Once you can build software for yourself, you notice what small businesses are actually paying for: a site they don't own, can't easily change, and never really got to design. The tools to do it properly have existed for years. Nobody was pointing them at the bagel shop. So in 2024 we started AB Dev Team to do exactly that.

It's a natural pairing. Alec is an engineer who would rather be building than talking. Bennett likes talking to people and understands what a business owner is actually trying to do. It shows in how the work gets done: quietly, directly, and without anyone in between.

How a project actually goes

From first call to handoff.

Most owners come to us without knowing what pages they need. That's fine. Here's what happens.

A conversation, not a form
We start by talking. What the business is trying to do, what's not working now, and a couple of sites you've seen and liked. Most owners don't know what pages or sections they need yet. Figuring that out is our job, not yours.

You see it before you pay
We design full mockups of your site first. Unlimited revisions in this phase, and no deposit until you've approved the look. Nothing gets built that you haven't already said yes to.

Two to four weeks of building
That's the typical build. While it's happening we talk however you prefer: text, email, or a call. There's no ticketing system and no account manager, just the two of us.

A handoff you can actually use
You get the code, the site, and a free dashboard for editing your own content. We send a short guide and walk you through it on a call. It's straightforward, and you'll know how to use it before we hang up.

After launch
If you host with us, we keep everything updated, fix anything that breaks, apply improvements as we find them, and make small changes for free. If you host elsewhere, we'll still help however we can. Larger code changes just mean we send you a fresh build to deploy.

An engineer with a background in startups and open source work. Every pixel and every line of code on your project goes through Alec. He's the quieter of the two, which is why you'll usually hear from Bennett first.

The business side. Bennett is the one who likes talking to people, so he keeps the project moving, answers your questions, and makes sure nothing falls through the cracks.
